Ẹ káàbọ̀. Welcome to our family.

Our roots: the Yoruba people

The Yoruba are one of Africa's largest peoples, more than 40 million strong, living mainly in south-west Nigeria and in neighbouring Benin and Togo. Tradition traces every Yoruba kingdom back to Ilé-Ifẹ̀ and its founder, Odùduwà.

Yoruba around the world

Trade, migration and the transatlantic slave trade carried Yoruba people, language and faith across the world. Today Yoruba culture lives on from Lagos to Bahia, Havana, London and Bergamo.
